'94 CBR600F2 Donor
My brother James graciously donated his red / white / black '94 F2 for our first race bike. Of course, it was totaled in a street encounter with a M1A1 Buick, but hey, it was a start.
The first job was to strip it down and see how bad the damage was. The front upper
fairing & bracket, fender and instrument panel were mashed. The fork tubes were
tweaked, along with the front rim. The left side engine cover was gouged pretty badly and
the left side foot peg was broken off. All of these parts needed to be replaced. The rest
of the bodywork was in good shape, excepting some scuffing on both lowers. Out came the
catalogs and here's what I ordered:
| Part | Supplier | |
| front rim (used) | North County Motorcycle Salvage | |
| foot pegs (used) | North County Motorcycle Salvage | |
| Factory left side engine cover | Targa | |
| front fairing | Targa | |
| Maier ABS front fender | Targa | |
| fairing bracket | Graves Motor Sports | |
| Honda fork tubes | Escondido Cycle Center | |
| Daytona temperature gauge | Crago Racing | |
| Auto Meter tach | Lockhart Phillips | |
| clear SpeedScreen | Lockhart Phillips |
Escondido Cycle Center took care of replacing the fork tubes & rebuilding the fork internals. I spent the next three months putting it all back together and getting everything to race spec.
All the smog gear went into a box. I had a local muffler shop whip up a couple of cover plates for the air injection ports on the head. The local Kragen Auto supplied a variety of rubber caps to plug up all the open vacuum lines.
I made a few mods to the Graves fairing bracket by adding neutral and oil pressure lights (Kragen) to the left side, and mounted the fuse holder on the right. I bolted on a small aluminim plate for the lights and mounted the Daytona temperature gauge above that.
Lockhart Phillips number plates, Spectro 10w40 oil, and Redline Water Wetter finished up the project.
